Pizza oven accessories buying guide: doors, tools and add-ons
What accessories does a wood-fired pizza oven need?
- A pizza oven door to hold heat in the oven for bread, roasts, casseroles and other long, slow bakes.
- A pizza peel to slide pizzas in and out of the oven.
- An oven brush to sweep ash and clean the cooking floor before you bake.
- Ceramic fiber blanket, our #1 recommended add-on. It's required on a wood-fired oven, because fire brick stores heat but doesn't insulate.
- A BrickWood Exhaust Kit to draw smoke up and away from the oven opening. The anchor plate is easiest to add during construction, but it can be added after your oven is built.

Every BrickWood pizza oven door is laser-cut from thick 10-gauge steel, finished in a black high-temperature powder coat rated for 900°F+, and fitted with solid white oak handles and 304 stainless steel hardware. They're 99% Made in the USA.
Pizza oven tools: peel, brush and peel rack
The BrickWood Pizza Oven Tool Set has the three hearth tools you'll use every time you fire your oven:
- Aluminum pizza peel: 12" x 14" blade on a wood handle, 35½" overall
- Pizza oven brush: brass bristles on one side, a steel scraper on the other, 40" wood handle
- Pizza peel rack: chrome-plated steel, mounts on a wall or post near your oven
Rope gasket kit for a tighter door seal
The optional High-Temp Rope Gasket Kit adds a gasket to the back of a new or used oven door so it seals tight against the opening. Your oven holds heat longer and burns less wood. The kit includes 6 feet of 5/8" Grapho-Glas rope gasket rated to 1,000°F and food-grade high-temperature silicone, and it also fits wood stove, fireplace insert and smoker doors that use 5/8" gasket.
Replacement pizza oven door handles
BrickWood replacement door handles are solid white oak with a premium finish of 2 coats of Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane. Each set includes 2 handles with stainless steel screws and lock washers, sold at cost with shipping included. The two handle sets aren't interchangeable, so choose the one that matches your oven.

Do I need a door on my pizza oven?
For pizza, you bake with the door off and the fire burning. The door earns its keep after the pizzas, holding the oven's heat for bread, roasts and slow-cooked dishes.
Can I use the tool set and gasket kit with other ovens?
Yes. The pizza peel, oven brush and peel rack work with any wood-fired or outdoor pizza oven, and the rope gasket kit fits any door with a 5/8" gasket.
What's the most important pizza oven accessory?
Ceramic fiber blanket insulation. Extra layers help your oven heat faster, stay hot longer and use less firewood.
